Breaking News!  The Governator has enacted a tax credit for First Time Home Buyers and Buyers of New Homes in California, including Santa Cruz County!  With the Federal Tax Credit for First Time Home Buyers expiring July 31st this is good news for home buyers in California.  Really good news for some buyers that are in the sweet spot and will be able to double dip on both the Federal and California State Tax Credits - They have the opportunity to receive as much as $18,000 in Tax Credits!

Here are some quick facts about the New State of California Tax Credit for Home Buyers:

*  You must close escrow on your home in California between May 1st, 1010 and July 31st, 2011.  You have to have a purchase contract signed by Dec 31st, 2010 but you can close escrow as late as July 2011.

* The California Home Buyer Tax Credit is for either 5% of the purchase price or $10,000 which ever is less.

* To be eligible you must be either a California First Time Home Buyer or a Buyer of a new home in California.  There are no income restrictions.

*No repayment!  As long as your occupy the property as your Primary Residence for at least 2 years following purchase.
